REED [by TET.EGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] PALMERSTON NORTH, Friday Provided certain guarantees that he has asked for are satisfactorily arranged, the well-known jockey Roy Reed will leave for California by the first available boat under contract to ride Mr. D. J. Davis' horses, Pillow Fight and Tea Trader at Agua Caliente and in other American engagements. Yesterday tho Auckland agent for Mr. Davis telegraphed to tho Palmerston North horseman asking him if he would consider the proposition and be able to leave for San Francisco by the first boat. Reed replied stating the terms under which he would be prepared to make the trip, nnd he is now waiting further word from Auckland.

Reed rode Nightmarch when he won the Melbourne Cup in 1929.
