JOHN BROWNLEE'S TOUR
Interest is running high in musical circles in anticipation of Mr. John Bfown-. lee's forthcoming New Zealand tour, which will open at the Town Hall concert chamber on Thursday evening. Mr. Brownleo comes with a great reputation gained in three continents, and, when it is realised that the baritone has only just had his thirty-second birthday, his achievements of the British Isles; he has given Lieder roles in grand opera ir Europe, America and Australia; lie has Fung in oratorio with some of the most famous choral societies in Great Britain: he was the supporting artist selected by the late Dame Nellie Melba for her farewell concert tour of the British Isles; he ha 3 given lieder recitals in the principal musical centres on the Continent; and he has charmed the London critics by the versatility displayed at his song recitals in England. At his first concert on Thursday Mr. Brown lee will be heard in operatic arias including the lilting " Serenade" from "Don Giovanni," Old English songs,modern compositions, and Lieder, and features of the programme will be the operatic duets with Miss Rita Miller. The other assisting artist will be M., Raymond, Lambert, a brilliant solo pianist, wfc» holds the diploma of the Brussels Conger vatorium. . '
