FIRE IN A GARAGE
MOTORIST RECEIVES BURNS FLAMES DAMAGE CAR A fire occurred in a garage in Cheltenham Road, Devonport, at ten o'clock last evening, the building being gutted. A car belonging to Mr. C. Reilly caught fire and it was pulled out, by the Devonport firemen. It. was extensively burned. Mr. Reilly, while endeavouring to save some clothing inside the car, was burned on the hands and face and had to receive medical attention. The owner of the garage is Mrs. S. Williams, of Henderson. OUTBREAK AT ONEHUNOA OLD LANDMARK BURNED One of the few remaining pensioner cottages, built in Albert. Street, Onehunga, 85 years ago, was destroyed by five early yesterday morning. The house, which was owned by Miss Burden, of Huutly, and was not insured, was vacated on Tuesday preparatory to its demolition and the erection of a new dwelling. The building was burning fiercely when the brigade arrived, but the flames were prevented from spreading to adjoining houses.
