Commodore <)itcii, who claims an engagement ou me second day oi tho meeting trotted in unproved style while running a mile and a-hulf on the cinders. He made only one mistake when going fast, but recovered his Fait more quickly than usual. Stardown was restricted to useful work ou the sand and executed his task in a pleating manner. He has made good progress since he raced-at Christmas and will be better when nest seen in action. Pogaway, who has been having an eaoy time, was h:i,>pled up and given a sltad.v tank over several circuits Ho paced boldly and snowed keennesa. He looks in excellent heart to undertake Fcrious work. Peter Abdullah, the maiden trotter by Peter Moko from Patch of Gold, gavp a neat exhibition of trotting over lour laps. He has a good style and solidness appeals to be one of his chief characteristics. Peter Abdullah claims an engagement on the second day at Epsom. La Triumph, trotting the reverse way. went smoothly, and although not asked for speed, moved at a good clip in the straights. When she gains confidence the es-pacer should prove useful in the novice trotters classes. Luckv Love gave a fine display of unhoppled pacing and appeared auxioii3 to hit out faster when allowed to run alonir steadily on the last. lap. G. Webb will drive Lucky Love in his engagement nezt Saturday snd G. A. Williams will be behind Webb's other charge, Student Prince. Poi, who is fast getting into racing condition. hit out pleasingly in a free-legged task over a mile and a-half. finishing with a solid run over the last furlong. Smith is not hurrying the'mare as there are no immediate engagements for her. Glandore revelled in an easy allotment on the s""id and has never been in better heart for his work. He seems to be improvinsr as ho gets older and v ilh a class to suit him may not be long in showing another return. Since the cinder track has been in uso for training Win Iluon has done all his work on the sand, and he has not been set any exacting tasks. He appears a, trifle big in condition and may need fast work to tune him up. Mill Bells is another to do most of hor work on the sand, and her tasks generally have been of an easy nature. Like her stable-mate. Billy Carbine. Min Bells looks bright m condition and she may be rapsole of an improved showing in her next engagement.

SILVER DE ORG'S RECORD GOOD TIME PERFORMANCES BY ABAYDOS Mr. G, Stanley, owner of the high class young pncer Silver de Oro, has engn r 'ed accommodation at Epsom for the mare arid her trainer, Or. McKendry, and it is anticipated that Ihe visitors will arrive earlv neyt week. Silver de Oro, a four-year-old by Bey de Oro—Molly Pointer, has been one of the early favourites for both the Otahnhu and Moss Dr.vis Memorial Handicaps since the appearance of the entries, a position she is justly entitled to in view of her very fine and consistent record this season. In U starts she has scored two wins, five seconds and three thirds. As a three-year-old Inst season she registered three wins and three minor placings in 12 starts, her successes being recorded in the Summer Handicap nt New Brighton in 9.52 G-f, the Maniapari H/mdicnp at South Wairnrapa, when 6*ne ran 4.32 from a 4.46 mark, and the President's Handicap at Ashburton in 2.49 3-5. As ft two-year-old she started only once, winning the New Zealand Sapling Stakes in 3.95 4-5. Silver de Oro has been responsible for some very attractive times over a mile and a quarter and two miles this season, and while her fastest records nt the longer journey were registered at Addingf.on, where she gained placed records of 4.21 2-5. 4.24 and 4.24 3-5., phe hns proverl herself at home on grass tracks by recording 4.28 2-5, 4.31 4-5 and 4.32 2-5 at New Brighton and Ashburton. Her smartest mile and a-quarter efforts were also recorded on the grass. At the Methven meeting, held st, Ashburton. she finished second to Furcka Boy in 2.45 1-5 and at New Brighton she just failed to concede Roddy 12 yards going 2.45 3-5. I/ike the majority of Rey de Oro's progeny, sbo is improving with nge, and. as she is well seasoned as the result of n good deal of racing, she should be in first-claes condition for Auckland Silver de Oro's trainer has been successful in the South Island with several good horses, and one of his string. Belinda, won the Litfwood Handicap at Addington last Saturday.
