DAME SYBIL THORNDIKE
TWO PERFORMANCES TO-DAY This afternoon at 1.50 and this evening at 7.50 the J. C. Williamson, Limited, management will present Dame Sybil Thorndiko and her London company, including Mr. Lewis Casson, for the final occasions in Bernard Shaw's brilliant drama "Saint Joan," which has been attracting large audiences. On Monday and Tuesday night will be presented Shakespeare's great drama, "Macbeth," in which Dame Sybil has achieved one of her best successes. " 'Macbeth,' " wrote a critic recently, "calls for players of uncommon flay. It is pleasing to note the artistic ascendancy of Dame Sybil Thorndike. whose marked talent, queenly appearance, magnificent diction and sense of the dramatic marks her.performance as the best Lady Macbeth this city has ever seen." On Wednesday afternoon Dame Sybil and her company will present a special performance of the great Greek tragedy, "The Medea of Euripides," and on Wednesday night and the following three evenings, and on Saturday afternoon next, the comedy costume Napoleonic play, "Madame Plays Nap," will be produced. In the.role of Henrietta de Peauva'is Dame Sybil will be seen in a part that gives the famous actress every opportunity for the display of her genius in comedy acting.
