WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS
LAWN TENNIS MATCH MANY SPORTING FIXTURES A variety of sporting futures has been set down for to-day. 'J lie most, important event is the second lawn tennis test match between the United States and New Zealand, which will he played at the. Stanley Street courts, commencing at, 1 p.m. Cricket matches will he played under the auspices of hoth the Auckland and Suburban Associations, while club games have been arranged hv the majority of bowling clubs for this afternoon. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron will hold races at, Kawau, while the Manukau Cruising Club has arranged events for yachts and launches at Cornwallis. The Northcote and Birkenhead regatta wilt also bo held to-day. The Tarnaki Yacht Club and the Orakei Basin Model Club have arranged events for this afternoon. Heats for the provincial eight,-oar rowing championship will be decided on the Tarnaki Drive course, the. competing clubs being Waitemata, Hamilton, St. George's and Auckland. The North Shore, West End and Waitemata Clubs will held independent events. An amateur athletic meeting will take place at Ellerslie, and senior and junior events will be held by the Auckland Cycling Club at The Parnell and Ponsonbv Swimming Clubs have arranged races for members. Broadsiding will be held at Western Springs Speedway this evening if the weather is fine, when motor-ears as well as cycles will appear on the cinders.-Another attraction for the evening is Dame Sybil Thorndike and her company at His Majesty's Theatre, while programmes will be presented at- the picture theatres in the city and suburbs. Dances will be held at the various cabarets.
