CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING

TAKAPUNA CLUB'S MATCHES THIRD CHAMPIONSHIP TO RAE The Takapuna Gun Club clay bird championship was decided at the club's grounds, Barry's Point, there being a good attendance of shooters and friends, and the visitors witnessed some excellent shooting for tho 1932-33 season's blue riband. The winner proved to be C. C. Rae for tho third successive season, and the runner-up waß F. H. Seccombe, two of the steadiest and most consistent shots in the province. Conditions were ideal for shooting, as there was very little wind to contend with.

In the championship match of 21, birds, nil competitors fired off the 18yds mark. Seccombe and Rae both shot the possible of 21 birds and divided the sweepstake. In the Bhoot-off (five birds onch and then first miss out) (o decide the championship. Seocombo shot four birdß out of five, Rao shooting his five birds, and thus winning the championship. The results were as follows: Six-bird Eye-opener Sweep.—C. C. Rne (18yds) shot the possible of six birds and won tlifc sweep outright. The next best were R. 8. Mowbray (11yds), W. E. Grant (18yds) and R. H. Bartley (18yds), who all shot five birds each.

Second Six-bird Ilundicap Sweep, off 18yds. Bartley, Grant, Rae, Mowbray and W. R. Ayton all shot the possible of six birds. They decided to shoot-off in the next match for the sweepstake. Seccombe and L. J. Henderson were the next best -with five birds each.

Third Six-bird Handicap Sweep, off 18yds. —Bartley, Rae and Ayton all shot tho possible of six birds, and divided the sweepstake in this match, and also the previous one. The next best were Seccombe,'Grant and Henderson, who all shot five birds each.

Club Championship of 21 birds, all off 18yds.—Seccombe and Rao both shot the possible of 21 birds. Grant, who shot 20 birds, was the next highest scorer. In the shoot-off Rae won the title and trophy on the 2Gth bird after a keen 6hoot-ofl with Seccombe.

Ten-bird Handicap for ladies' trophy.— Seccombe (Mrs. R. S. Mowbray), 18yds, Rae (Miss B. Ayton), 20yds. Bartley (Mrs. J. Honderson), 16yds, .and Mowbray (Mrs. Grainger), llyda, all shot ninp birds each. In the shoot-off to decide the prize for the lucky lady. Roo and Bnrtle? 'went out on th«) 14th bird. Seccombo and Mowbray continued on rind, after a great shot for shot, struggle, Mowbray missed his 25th bird, Seccombe getting his, and faking the first sweep and the trophy for Mrs. K. S. Mowbray. Mowbray took second sweep money.

Seven-bird Handicap Sweep.—Henderson (15yds) shot tho possible of seven birds and won outright tho first rtweep money. Tho next best scores were Grant (16yds), Seccombe (10yd). and Mowbray (12yds.). who all shot six birds each. During the day llae shot 44 birds without a miss, finishing with an aggregate of 57 out of 59, Seccombe shot 65 out of 70 and Grant shot 50 out of 56.
