THE TROTTING TRACK

FAST TRIALS AT EPSOM MOKO GIRL'S FINE TROT AUTO MACHINE SHOWS DASH BY ABAYDOS The dirt track at Epsom harrowed out well yesterday morning, but the footing was dead for the early workers. It improved later and was very fast for latecomers. The honours of the morning rested with the trotting mare Molio Girl, who gave one of the finest exhibitions of speed seen at Epsom for some time.

Moko Girl (W. T. Dye). Fisher (A. T. Newdick), Dan Direct (A. Patten) and Silver Bingen (R. D Kennerley) worked a mile and a-half, Dan Direct finishing slightly in front of Fisher and the trotter in 3.24 3-5. Fisher, who went off first, lost his position early and Moko Girl led at a sound pace, passing the mile in 2.17. In tho run home Fisher and Dan Direct caught her and just shaded her at the finish. Fisher, under the whip, finished gamely, but had nothing in reserve. Dan Direct ran the last half in 1.7. Moko Girl's display was full of merit. She made the paco practically all the way, and put up an attractive performance in covering the first mile and a-quarter in 2.50. She did not mako the eemblance of a mistake, and came home the last half in 1.7 4-5, going 3.24 4-5 for tho journey. Silver Bingen paced resolutely and ran the distance in 3.20, the final half in 1.8. It was his first serious task since coming to Epsom, and the run should benefit him.

Auto Machino (A. Brown), assisted by Pageant (P. Morrison), Brentlight (R. D. Kennerley) and Ivewpie's Guy (F. J. Smith) ran a mile and a-half in 3.23. Pageant led out and at the milo and a-quarter poet, Carnui (M. Morrison) joined issue. Aproaching the milo disc. Mazda (C. Smith) hopped away in front of the field, and set a lively pace. All were hard at it in the run home, Carnui finishing in front o£ Pageant, Auto Machine, Mazda and Kewpie's Guy, who were practically in line, with Brentlight two lengths away. Pageant ran 3.24 for the journey, and Auto Machine made a good dash to run the final half in 1.4 3-5.

Carnui put in splendid work to run the mile and a-quarter in 2.49, sprinting home solidly in 1.5. Mazda went an attractive mile in 2.14, and, getting a useful break at the jump away, kept her older rivuls busy to head her off. Kewpie's Triumph's Task Whippet (H. J. Woocffield) went away a length in front of Nellota (L. Mitchell) and, finishing by himself, ran a mile and a-half in, 3.32. He ran the first mile and a-quarter in 2.54 3-5, and was easing up over the final half-furlong. After going a mile and a-quar-ter in 2.55, Nellota was pulled up. Kewpie's Triumph (J. Gee) ran two miles in comfortable style in 4.40j. lie want lazily over tlio first half in 1.15, but increased the speed to reach tho mile in 2.25. Settling down to his work ho ran the last mile resolutely in 2.155. finishing well with 1.7 for tho final section. Kewpie's Triumph would have improved on tho time lor the journey with a companion. Glandore (A. McGarry) conceded Modern Light (F. J. Smith) two lengths' 'etart over a mile and a-half, and had lier measure at the finish in 3.31, the track being elow when they worked. Modern Light led to the mile in 2.23, but as they passed tho milo and a-quarter in 2.57 Glandore ranged alongside and, pacing very generously on the outside, held the mare to the post. Without being hurried the roan ran tho last quarter in 345. After working a comfortablo milo and ahalf with Young Rodney (C. G. Lee). Prince Etawah (R. A. Shepherd) was associated in a second task over a similar journey with Wee Machine (E. S. Groat) and Realty (M. S. Groat), tho last-named finishing in front in «*27. Prince Etawah made play to tho mile in 2.21, which mark Realty, going easily at the back, reached in 2.20. Wee Machine closed on Prjnoe Etawah half-way down tho straight, and when he had his measure. Realty dnshed up to head them off, and register 1.7 for the final half-mile. Kelp (E, N. Kennerley) gave Student Prince (G. Webb) four seconds' etart over a mile and a-quarter, and beat him homo in 2.55 3-5. The back-marker made no impression on tho leader in the early etagee, and was still two seconds behind as Student Prince passed the six furlong 3 in 1.50. Over tho final three furlongs Kelp put in good work and headed his companion, oil, running tho last half in' 1.7 2-5, Student Prince taking 1.10 for tho same section. Kelp did not impress while pacing leisurely, but onco tho speed was increased ho settled down to his work in splendid style. Gold Seam's Two ESorts Gold Seam (W. Willetts) and Stardown (R. Millen) worked over a mile, hitting out over the final half at a solid clip. The novice trotter maintained an even gait and finished up the. task in 1.10, without being unduly bustled. Gold Seam was given a second tryout, going a mile and a-half with Dark McKinney (R. D. Kennerley) in 3.31 Gold Seam paced boldly and ran the last half in 1.10, and considering that it was his first serious effort for over a week, his display was useful. Dark McKinney did not trot as solidly as usual, but lost very little ground when mixing his gait. Grand Triumph (E. N. Kennerley) made a couple of mistakes while trotting a mile and a-half at a little better than a 2.30 gait, but in a repeat effort over a mile and a-quarter, went solidly to clock 3.0. He trotted the middle half-mile in 1.10. Commodore Jack (W. T. Dye) and Pearl Parrish (E. N. Kennerley) ran a mile together, but there was no speed on. Pearl Parrish, who has been on tho easy list for a week owing to a slight foot injury, looks in good order to continue her preparation. Lucky Love (G. Webb), accompanied by the Worthy Bond—Lucy Bell filly (R. Herring) in the early stages, and tho Peterwnh —Black Gold gelding (F. J. Smith) for the last mile, covered a milo and a-quarter in 2.59. The Peterwnh two-year-old hopped out well clear at the milo, and although Lucky Lovo paced solidly, he failed to head his younger rival off in the_ run to the post. The Sapling Stakes candidate ran the mile in 2.24, and tho Nelson Tasker colt registered 1.10 for the final half-mile. Pedlar (L. Laver), Worthy Cause (A. J. Julian) and Sir Moko (T. Maxted) worked a mile arid a-half. but did not go faster than a 2.38 gait. Sir Moko led for over a mile, but Pedlar and Worthy Cause were both going better over the final quarter. Nelson Tasker (W. Brain) was given strong unhoppled work on the sand, and put plenty of dnsh into his task.

Great Fame (A. T. Newdick) gnvo an improved display of irotting when running the last mile of a mile and a-half task in 2.20.

La Triumph (P. J. Smith) showed speed in patches while (jotting over several hips, but left her feet on the turns. She has built up in condition and requires only to develop eolidnoss to make n useful young trotter.
