FATE OF A BOY
JUMP INTO BATHING POOL DEPTH NOT REALISED VICTIM UNABLE TO SWIM An eight-years-old boy, who could not swim, John Henry Garritt, lost his life when bathing in 3 P°°l O a^'e y Creek, A von dale, shortly after noon yesterday. The depth of the water was about sft. The boy, who was a son of Air. J. H. Garritt, of 871 New North Road, Mount Albert, went to the pool with another boy, Frank Shridsky, who lives at 40 Coyle Street, Mount Albert. Garritt jumped into the water from a 2ft. bz.nk, apparently not realising the depth of the water. He was soon in difficulties. After coming to the surface and sinking thiee times he disappeared. His companion rsn quickly to the home of Mr. Garritt, about 100 yds. away. The father, accompanied by .Mr. 1. C. Payne, who was visiting him, immediately hurried to the scene and recovered the body in about sft. of water.
Artificial respiration was attempted, but without avail.
