NEW MOTOR-LINER
WANGANELLA DUE TO-DAY COMFORTS FOR PASSENGERS Due from Sydney at seven o'clock this morning, the Huddart-Parker Company's new 10,000-ton motor-liner Wanganella is making her first visit to Auckland. The vessel will be inspected to-morrow afternoon by a number or invited guests. The Wanganella is the first motor-.ljnor to be employed exclusively in the intercolonial service, which has been extended to Melbourne, where the liner will call every month. She is the latest type of passenger vessel and is built on graceful and modern lines with a cruiser stern and two low funnels. There are seven watertight bulkheads, dividing the vessel into eight watertight compartments. The double bottom extends the entire length of the ship and is arranged to carry oil fuel, frosh water and water ballast. The vessel has three complete steel decks and combined poop and bridge and forecastle decks, together with spacious promenade and boat decks.
The passenger accommodation is spacious and luxuriously furnishod, berths being provided for 304 first-class passengers, including special suites, 81 singleberth cabins and 73 three-berth rooms. The second-class accommodation for 104 passengers is provided in 28 two-berth cabins and 16 three-berth rooms. Tho furnishing of the cabins includes washbasins with hot and cold water service, wardrobes, chests of drawers, etc., while a special system of ventilation has been arranged to all passenger rooms. The public rooms for the first-class include a large dining saloon with seating accommodation for 200 people, also lounge, reading room, smoke-room, smoking lounge and verandah or promenade deck. The second-class dining saloon lias seating accommodation for 100. A smoke-room and lounge entrance is provided on tho bridge deck.
