WIFE'S AFFECTIONS
ALLEGED ALIENATION BLACKMAIL COUNTER-CHARGE NEW YORK, Jan. 19 Mr. L. U.. C. Rochefort, a Canadian broker, and a former candidate for the Mayoralty of Montreal, brands James A. Stillman, a wealthy United States banker, as a "love thief." Ho intends to sue him for 200,000 dollars (£40,000 at par) for alienating his wife's affection. Mrs. Rochefort, whose Christian name is Marjorie, is a brunette, and it is alleged that Mr. Stillman lured her on trips to Havana with lavish gifts. Mr. Stillman's lawyers reply with charges of a blackmail plot, asserting that Mr. Rochefort secretly encouraged the friendship between his wife and Mr. Stillman, hoping for profit,.
