STAR BASEBALL PITCHER
ROUND TRIP ON MONTEREY The star baseball pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, Mr, Charles Hoot, was among the passengers on the Monterey, which arrived from San Francisco and Los Angeles, yesterday. Ho is making the round trip on the liner, accompanied by his wife and family. J loot stated that baseball had an even greater hold on the American sporting public than football. Enormous crowds witnessed tho principal matches and star players commanded largo fees. The team for which lloofc pitched had won the national title during the past season, although defeated in the world's championship by the Now York Yankees.
