OVERSEAS LEAGUE
THE ANNUAL MEETING
At the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the Overseas Leaguj, held last evening in the club rooms, the following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Mr. John Alexander; vicepresidents, Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, Mrs. M. Bradstreet, Miss A. R. Quaylo, Mr. J. lv. Kintoul, Mr. T\ E. de Guerrier and Mr. Laird Thomson; committee, Mrs. J. M. Melville, Mrs. Angwin, Mrs. Sharood, Madame Aileen Johns, Mrs. Smart. Miss Early, Miss L, Montgomery, Miss I. Jennings, Miss J. McCJymont, Miss Earl, Mr. E. C. Duncan, Mr. E. de Lange, Mr. Tomkinson, Mr. Hope Ilaynes, Mr. Elliott and Mr. Gill: lion, secretary, Miss N. Montgomery; branch secretary, Miss D. Webster; hon. treasurer. Mr. G. S. In addressing the members the retiring president, Mr. .J. M. Melville, outlined the progress made during tlio past year and stressed the importance of the branch paying due attention to its main purpose —that of being a strong link in the chain of overseas branches throughout the Empire. Part of the work of these links was the supplying of information to members in other parts of the world and the welcoming of visitors from other countries. Help had also been given to various local projects, thus carrying out the main plank of the league's platform.
