Miss R. who has been visiting Christchurch, returned to Auckland this week.
Mrs. T. H. Stewart, of Milford, will leave on Tuesday for Wliangarei, where she will in future reside.
Miss Audrey Hutchinson, of Dromorne Road, Reniuera, returned from a. visit to England by the Rangitane, which arrived in Wellington yesterday.
Mr. jand Mrs. H. Matthews, of St Heliers, who have been spending a holi day at Tnpu on the Coromandel Renin sul'a, are at present, visiting Mercury Bay.
Miss Nellie Scanlan arrived in Wellington by the Rangitane yesterday on a visit to New Zealand after an absence of fivo years in England, where she has been engaged in literary work.
Mrs. E. R. N. Russell and the Misses Cicely and Ailsa Russell, who have been visiting England, reached Wellington by the Rangitane yesterday and are expected to arrive in Auckland to-day.
Mrs. F. C. Mappin, of Mountain Road, Epsom, will return to day from Wellington, accompanied by her daughter. Miss Laura 'Mappin. who arrived by the Rangitane on Thursday from a visit to England.
The annual general meeting of the Wliangarei Women's Institute Centre was held on Wednesday afternoon in the Salvation Army lounge, the president, Mrs. R. C. M. Harington, presiding. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, the latter showing a. small credit balance. Several new members were enrolled. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mrs. R. Thompson; vice-presidents, Mrs, W. Jones and Mrs. C. Cleaver; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr*. H. Jamieson ; committee, Mesdames McC'abe, G. E. Sharnian, Cain, Miss L. Brougliton-Carr.
An enjoyable five hundred evening was held by members of the Milford Cruising Club in the club house in honour of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Stewart, who are leaving to reside in Whangarei. On behalf of the club the commodore, Mr. E. Webster, presented the guests of honour with a travelling rug, Mr. Stewart replying on behalf of his wife and himself. The highest, scores were recorded by Mr. Chandler and Mr. Petersen. Among those present were:—Mrs. Adants, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Webster, Mrs. Gibson. Mrs. Wakefield. Mrs. Dunmore. Mrs. Belter. Mrs. Page. Mrs. McLeod, Mrs. Marsland. Mrs. Chandler. Mrs. Wood. Mrs. Forbes, Mrs. Oborn. Mrs. Cullen, Miss Hooker and Miss Forbes.
