CAR FOUND IN SCRUB
REPAINTING IN PROGRESS
YOUNG MAN'S ARREST

Following upon the discovery by a sergeant and a constable yesterday morning of a small motor-car in process of being repainted 111 some scrub near the old Waitekauri lload, Waikino, Herbert Sunderland Fielding, aged 27, an engineer's fitter, appeared this morning bofore Mr. W. M. Walnutt, J.P., in the "Waihi Magistrate's Court, charged with having stolen at Henderson on November 21 a car, valued at £l6O, the property of Lorna E. S. Williams, and with the theft of 100 eggs, valued at 10s, also tho property of Lorna Williams. Sergeant Jlarley stated that with Constable Parker ho visited the spot as the result of a report that the car was abandoned. A paint pot and other painting gear were found near by, and all but one door of the car had been painted while. Egg shells lay around. After some minutes accused appeared, and when questioned said be had stolen the car from Henderson. .Subsequent inquiries showed that a car tallying with I lie description of tho one found had been removed from Henderson.
On tho application of the sergeant nc cused was remanded to appear at Auck land next Monday.
