MANY NEW COMPANIES

TWENTY AUCKLAND VENTURES

The recent marked revival of interest in the search for gold shows no signs of abating, and already this month six new gold mining companies have been registered in Auckland.

For the year to date there have been 33 gold miuing concerns formed in New Zealand, the nominal capital involved in the ventures totalling £499,274. Twenty of these companies were formed in Auckland, with an aggregate capital of £205,274. The highest individual capital was £65,000, two gold sluicing enterprises having been promoted in Dunedin, each with this amount as the authorised capital. Many of the registrations were small syndicates and companies. In two instances companies of £7OO were formed in Auckland, one being a public concern and the other private. Activities are spread over all areas where gold has been found in the past. Most of the claims of the new companies are in Otago, the West Coast, and tho Thames and Coroinnridel districts.

Last year 15 gold mining companies, representing ap aggregate total nominal capital of £284,450, were registered in the Dominion. Seven had their head offices in Auckland. In addition to the gold mining ventures established this year, a firm of antimony miners with a nominal capital of £20,000 was recently formed in Auckland to operate at Endeavour Inlet, Marlborough.
