BLIND INSTITUTE
REPRESENTATION ON BOARD
INMATES' CLAIMS SUPPORTED
[by telegraph—special reporter] WELLINGTON, Tuesday The fact that the Jubilee Institute for tho Blind is mentioned in the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill gave Mr. W. E. Parry (LabourAuckland Central) an opportunity in the House to-day to renew a request that inmates of the institution should bo permitted to elect a representative to the board of trustees.
Mr. Parry said that had been promised by the United Government, but had not been carried out. lie therefore appealed to the Minister of Health to grant the request. lie said he knew of no opposition on the surface to the proposal. He believed the Government appointed two members of tho board and it was suggested that the Government should appoint only one, thus allowing the inmates to elect one representative.
