NEW BUILDING PROPOSED
COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATION

A recommendation by the Library Committee that, owing to tho increasing congestion and lack of space iu the present rooms, the council be urged to press forward the matter of building a new library, was adopted, by tho Whangarei Borough Council last evening and was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee to investigate and report.
At the previous meeting of the council it was decided to purchase a section for a new library building at a cost of £687. The librarian's report disclosed that the receipts from April to October, 1932, were £296. as against £284 for the same period in 1931. The average daily circulation for the month of October, 1932, was 332, which constituted a record for any month since November, 1921, when the circulation was first recorded.
