COLLISION AT CORNER
HEAVY POST DISLODGED
TELEPHONE WIRES BROKEN
Extensive damage was caused to one ct two motor-cars involved in a collision at the corner of Manukau and Alba Roads, Epsom, about noon yesterday. One of the cars carried away a telegraph post and a verandah pole before coming to rest. Neither driver was injured.
A large closed model driven by a youth, Nathaniel Suckling, of 12 Chamberlain Avenue, Mount Eden, emerged from Green Lane and was crossing Manukau Road to enter Alba Road, when a collision occurred with a smaller car, driven by tha Rev. G. Frost, of Arthur Street, Ponsonby, which was travelling along the main road toward the city. In an endeavour to avoid the collision, Mr. Frost also turned toward Alba Road, but the impact occurred on the corner.
The larger car dislodged a telegraph pole, with the result that several wires were broken, and also snapped a verandah pole outside the grocery of ilr. G. Guest. Damage to the extent of about £2O was caused to Suckling's car, but the other car escaped with slight damage to one wheel.
Repairs to the broken telephone iines were completed promptly.
