EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD.
The following are extracts from tha New Zealand Herald of November 22, 1882:
The New Zealand Shipping Company announce that they have made arrangements for monthly steam communication with Home and have contracted for t^ B building of a line of steamers of 4000 tons gross register each, of steel, fitted with refrigerators. Pending the completion of their own steamers they are chartering suitable vessels to begin the running once. The first will leave London for Lyttelton direct on January 20. She the British King, -of 3559 tons register, built by Messrs. Harland and Wolffi builders of the White Star liners and oj the P. and 0. Company's most recen* addition, the Shannon* Steady progress is being made with tn® lighting of the City of Melbourne by KB® Australian Electric Company, a large number of streets, institutions and shops being now lighted by electricity. . " The railway line which will ultimately connect Sydney with Adelaide, via Wen worth and tfay, will be 924 miles * length. Nearly 600 miles are already CO structed. x
