NORTH AUCKLAND BODIES NO BREAK WITH COUNCIL [from our own correspondent] WHANCrAKET, Monday Delegates from nine associations in the North attended a meeting of the recentlyformed North Auckland executive of tho .Agricultural and Pastoral Associations. The president, Mr. F. 0. Barge (Whangarci), presided. Tho Auckland Provincial Council was represented by Mr. J. Mitchell, president of tho Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, secretary of the association, and the council, and Mr. J. 11. Kissling, secretary of the Franklin Association. Mr. Barge said tho meeting was called to receive remits, and to co-operate in assisting the Auckland Provincial Council. lie asked Mr. Mitchell to state the views of the council on the formation of a North Auckland executive. "Wo have tho best of goodwill for the North," said Mr. Mitchell. "When your minutes came before us we were alarmed and thought your action would result in the breakifig up of the council. We are pleased to know that you do not wish to sever your connection with the Provincial Council. We want to assist the North as much as possible. We want to stand together, and not do anything to break down the association we have built up." Mr. H. N. Cliff (Waiotira) said the Northern associations were not represented on the Auckland Provincial Council, which comprised eight members. In forming a sub-association Northern members did not intend to break with the Provincial Council, but did so with the hope that they would be better able to advance their respective associations. Mr. O'Donnell: We were thunderstruck when we became aware of what you proposed to do. We ask you to consider very seriously before doing anything to breakaway from . the Auckland Provincial Council. Mr. C. If. McKenzie (Northern Wairoa) said his association was not in favour of breaking away from ttie Provincial Council. lie could not, however, see any real difficulty in forming a committee of Northern associations for the purpose of advancing their interests. It was ultimately decided to recommend to the North Auckland associations that the name be altered to read "The North Auckland Committee of the Auckland Provincial Council." The delegates decided to givo wholehearted support to the efforts of the Auckland Provincial Council in endeavouring to have the .Royal Show for 1935 held in Auckland. Mr. O'Donnell gave an address outlining the Auckland scheme for placing boys on the land, and appealed to Northern societies to help. Delegates gave assurances that the associations represented would give every assistance in making the scheme a success.
