GIRL GUIDE MOVEMENT

AUCKLAND ORGANISATION ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR To celebrate the twenty-first year of the Girl Guide movement, ranger and guide companies throughout tho Empire have' endeavoured to do some special service, states the report of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Association, presented by Mrs. N. Coates, provincial commissioner, at last evening's annual meeting. In Auckland tho service had taken tho form of book and clothe:; drives, and knitting and sewing for men in relief camps. It, was reported 287 guides attended 12 cam pa in tho Christmas holidays. This showed a decrease, but more indoor camps had boon held. There was growing activity nmons: the lone guides, rangers and gnideis. The Lady Bledisloe. Ranger Cup is to bo given this year to the company sending in the best piece of handwork of any kJul, the report stated. The roll comprises 152 rangers, 1019 brownies, 1633 guides, 42 lone guides and 273 guiders. The financial statement showed a credit balance oi £282. The gins wero congratulated on their fine 'year's work by Mrs. A. D. Campbell, "who presided. Congratulations were also extended bv Mrs. 1!. M. lolhurst, oil behalf of Mrs. W. K. Wilson, chief commissioner for tho Don :nion. She mentioned that the red cord diploma, the highest, decoration obtainable 'n the movement, had been recently won by Miss Mona Bu"g : n, of Auckland, who is at present in England.
