BUILDING IN THE CITY
RETURNS FOR OCTOBER FEW NEW DWELLINGS B.iilding permits issued by the Auckland City Council in October represent work to a total value of £20,511, compared with £33,758 in the corresponding month last year. The aggregate value for the period since January 1 last is £228,249, compared with £205,839 for the equivalent period of 1931. Tho largest individual contract in the past month was one for a little under £BOOO. Five permits for new dwellings were granted, compared with 12 in October, 1930. The largest was for a house valued at £IOOO. The following are comparative monthly totals for the past three years:—
Permits for new dwellings in tho threo periods numbered 48, 79 and 182 respectively.
