FEWER BIRTHS AND DEATHS MARRIAGES ALSO DECLINE Marked declines in the number of births and deaths, and also of marriages, are revealed in the vital statistics for October for tho Auckland district, when compared with tho figures for the corresponding month last year. Tho returns are in accord with the diminishing tendency noted throughout the year. Last month a total of 215 births was registered, as against 242 in October, 1931. The total for the first 10 months of this year was 2052, compared with 2382 last year. Marriages last month totalled 122, a decrease of 10 compared with the figures for October last year, while the total for the year to date was 1392, last year's figure for the corresponding period being 1469. Of last month's marriages 32 were celebrated by the registrar, as against 45 last year, while for the 10-monthly period the totals were 381 and 434 respectively. The number of deaths in Auckland also showed a heavy decline, the figures for last month being 134, compared with 198 in October, 1931. For the 10 months of tho current year, deaths totalled 1602, as against 1636 last year.
