FARMER INJURED
ACCIDENT WHILE DRILLING CONDITION VERY SERIOUS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAUPIRI, Monday Severe injuries were received by Mr. James Mathers, aged 50, married, a farmer of Gordonton Road, near Taupiri, about 2.30 this afternoon, when lie became caught in a drilling machine he was working. Mr. Mathers was engaged in drilling in a maize field, when tho two-horse team bolted and he became entangled in tho machine. He was severely injured about the legs and head and his chest was crushed. Dr. D. Martin, of Ngaruawahia, was summoned and rendered first aid. Tho injured man was taken by ambulance in an unconscious condition to the Waikato District Hospital, where his condition this evening was reported to be very serious.
