MOTHER'S BACK TURNED DEATH IN HOSPITAL AN UNFORTUNATE FAMILY fßl' TELEGRAPH— OWN CORRESPONDENT] DARGAVILLE, Friday * An accident with fatal results occurred at Ma,ropiu yesterday. Mrs, Charles Powell was engaged in cleaning a carpet with kerosene, her small children playing round her, including an infant daughter about 12 months old, one of twins. Tho mother had turned her back for a moment when the child seized the uncorked bottle and, before the mother could stop it, swallowed a quantity of the liquid. The child was rushed to the hospital at Te Kopuru, but died late in the evening. The family has been most unfortunate. Last winter their home and all their possessions were destroyed by fire. Some time previously another child, also a twin, died as the result of an accident.
