CONVERSION OF CARS
PROVISIONS OF THE LAW REQUEST FOR ADJUSTMENT [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] "WELLINGTON, Friday A question was asked by Mr. R. A. Wright (Government —Wellington Suburbs) in the House of Representatives to-day, when he. drew the attention of the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Justice, to the fact that, Mr. Justice Herdman had drawn public notice to a serious anomaly in th© Crimes Act in relation to the conversion of motor-cars. He asked if legislation would be introduced this session to adjust the anomaly. Mr. Wright explained that Mr. Justice Herdman instructed a jury to acquit accused persons charged with stealing a motor-car, stating that under the present law he had no alternative. The Minister said ho had not yet seen the report to which.Mr. Wright referred. He gave an assurance that if an adjustment were necessary, a very close investigation of the position would be made.
