NEXT SATURDAY'S EVENTS LIST Of THE ACCEPTANCES. GUINEAS FIELD OF SIXTEEN TWENTY IN MITCHELSON CUP Acceptances for tho nix handicup events and forfeits for tlic two classic races at Ellerslie next Saturday, when tlie Auckland Racing Club's Spring Meeting opens, closed yesterday and are very satisfactory. There is a field of 20 in tho Mitchelson C'uii, the withdrawals being Hunting Cry. Volimond, Korokio, Valroe, Littlo Doubt, Baroscope and Nassock. Hunting Cry stands his ground in tho Flying Handicap, acceptors for which number 17, while there are 10 in the Shorts Handicap, The Gordon Handicap field has been pruned down from 5i to 23, thus obviating n division. Tho Trial Hurdles has drawn 12 acceptors and the Hunters' Steeplechase nine, the smallest field of the day. Sixteen horses have been left in tho Great Northern Guineas, including tho Avondale Guineas winner, Pillow Fight. There are 22 two-year-olds in the Welcomo Stakes, Princess Doreen, winner of the Avondale Stakes, being among tho number. Details are us follows:

FIRST- VISITORS ARRIVE MR. LOWRY'S THREE HORSES The first of tho visitors for tho Auckland Racing Club's Spring Meeting reached Ellerslie yesterday, when Mr. T. H. Lowry's private trainer, R, Alexander, arrived with Chrysology, Sonior and Aesculus. Chrysology is well known to local racegoers, having raced here previously, but his travelling companions have not bctn in Auckland before. Aesculus is a three-year-old gelding by Night Raid from Tinihanga, hence a fullbrother to Elude. Ho had three starts last season for p. second and a third, and he has shown improving form in several outings this term, winnincc the Trial Handicap at Napier Park at the beginning of the month and running seccmd to Minstrel Lad in the Spring Trial Stakes at Trentliam hmt Monday. „ . ~,. , Senior is a two-year-old colt by Ruler from First Blow and, therefore, a half-brother, to Second Wind and Gascony. He had his first public outing in tho Weliesley Stakes at Trentham, but failed to make a showing, not being quite as forward ns some of his opponents, who had had tho benefit of a littlo previous racing. Senior has displayed speed on the tracks nnd ho may be seen in a more favourable light at, Ellerslie. , The Wanganui trainer, W. Rayner. is expected to arrivo this morning with Mr. G. M Currie's horses, Midinette, Pomp and Spiral After Midinette's two failures at Avondale last month, Mr. Currie was inclined to allow her to forgo her Ellerslie engagements, but after consultation with W. Rayner ho has decided to give her another chance in Auckland, whero the right-handed tracks are not considered to be in her favour, although she shaped really well on occasions hero last, season.

► WAIKATO RACING CLUB SPRING STAKES INCREASED An increase of £235 in tho stakes, making the total £1790, is a feature of the programmo for tho epring meeting of the Waikato Racing Club on November 19 and 21, which is advertised in this issue. Tl\o Waikato Cup is worth £225, including a gold cup valued at £25, and tho Waikato Hack Cup i« worth £lls, including n cup valued at £JS. The sweepstakes system has been extended. In tho Trial Stakes and Taupiri Hack Handicap, on the first day, and tho Frankton Handicap, on the second day, thero will be a sweepstakes of £3 each, and in the Waikato Hack Cup a sweepstakes of £2 each. Entries for all events close at 5 pm next Friday with the secretary, Mr. E. 11. O'Meara, Hamilton, or Messrs. Blomfield and Company. Auckland. STIPENDIARY POSITION The New Zealand Racing Conference is calling applications for the position of chairman of stipendiary stewards at a salary of £750 a year, plus travelling expenses (exclusive of board).
