PHENOMENAL RUN
SUCCESS OF "CAVALCADE" ENORMOUS WEEKLY RECEIPTS " Cavalcade " finished its rnn of 403 performances at Drury Lane Theatre, London, recently. This pageant play took altogether approximately £215,000. Of this fortune Mr. Noel Coward, the author, has probably received between 20 and 25 per cent., excluding the book, serial, and film rights, each of which is worth a small fortune. The play is one of the biggest successes England has seen in recent years. It opened at £7,300 a week, which was maintained for several months. It dfopped slowly until July, when it stayed at £3,500 a week. Afterwards takings rose again to £4,500 a week. The play employed 644 people.
