VIBURNUMS
The different varieties of viburnums, notably the variety opulus, the gueldarose or snowball tree as it is commonly called, are a conspicuous sight, every branch and twig being a profusion of snow-white flower balls. PJicatum, the Japanese variety, is very similar. Tomentosuin bears flat heads of single hydrangea-like blossoms in profusion. Sieboldii is also laden with large flat heads of terminal blossoms. Carlesii and Macrocephalum are more recent varieties of sterling merit. Viburnums are specially adapted for the mixed border and for single specimens on lawns. They are of easy cultivation and quite hardy.
