SEA LAVENDER
MASSES OF FLOWERS Statices, or sea lavender, "have become very popular not only for the flower border, but for cut flowers for house decoration and for mixing with helichrysums and other everlasting flowers. The cloud-like masses of flowers of the branching varieties make borders gay for a long time. The royal blue sinuata variety and yellow Bonduellii are a pretty contrast and much appreciated by all florists. There is also a pure white and a rosecoloured variety. Statice latifo'lia is a perennial species with large, branching heads of clear mauve flowers, invaluable for the perennial border and also for drying for winter everlasting flowers. The annual variety, Suworowii, makes a charming decoration, and is much in demand in London, where it is a prominent feature of the florists' shops.
