BAND OF HOPE UNION
RESULTS OF COMPETITION Entries were received from all parts of tho Auckland province for the young people's competition arranged by tho Auckland Band of Hope Union. The special prize of £5 for tho school gaining tho highest average of marks per eligible scholar was won by the Pukekaroro District. School, with an average of 77 marks. A second prize of £1 Is was awarded to the Tainaroa District School, with 61.5 marks. The results wore, as follows: Division I, ages 9 and 10 years.-—Ethel Cribb (Puriri), 98 marks, first prize and gold medal; Thelma Coates (Pukekaroro), 2; Isabel Ilellyer (Kaukapakapa), 3; Peggy Moss (Gisborn6), 4; Margaret Kemp (Gisborne), 5; Marion Thomas (Stanley Bay), 6. Division 11., ages 11 and 12 years Jean Anderson (Mount Eden), 91 marks, tirsL prize and gold medal; Vida Ramsey (Mount Eden), 2; Rao Tinslcy (Dominion Road), 3; Valda Keegan (Mangere), 4; Marion Calcott (Matawai), 5; Edna Lewis (Dominion Road), 6. Division 111., ages 13 and 14 years.— Laurel Matthews (Birkdale), 94 marks, first prize and gold modal; Winnie Johnston (Mount Eden), 2; Ivan Fordham (Birkdale), 3; Joy Kendon (Gisborne), 4; Alma Hutchinson (Onehunga), 5; Morton Laing (Helensville), 6. Division IV., ages 15 and 16 years.— Dorothy Cribb (Puriri), 100 marks, first prize and gold medal; Evelyn Matthews (Birkdalo), 2; Wavenoy Tinsley (Dominion Road), 3; Ailsa Ryan (Grey Lynn), 4; Peter Cumming (Tuakau), 5; Marjorio Carter (Cambridge), 6; Sybil Stacey (Epsom), special prize.
