INFIRMARY CONCERT
The inmates of the Kpsoni Infirmary were agreeably entertained on Wednesday evening by an excellent musical and elocutionary programme, organised by Mms Tlieo, Ilalpin, on behalf of the Onehungn branch of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary. Madame Johns made a strong appeal to the old folk and received vociferous applause for her finished rendering of several old-time songs, such as " The Last Rose, of Summer " and " Comiti' Through the Rye." Mr. Frank Sutherland also scored dcci<'";l successes in his army and sea songs. Miss Scott and Mr. Robert Simmers charmed their audience by their artistic rendering of several duets, and Mr. Ronald Muston, an established favourite at (lie infirmary, fully maintained his reputation as a violinist. An instrumental trio by Miss Lee, Miss Ilalpin and Mr. Gerald Leo evoked well merited applause. as did Mr. Denis Johns in his clevcrely rendered elocutionary, items. Miss Ilalpin was a sympathetic accompanist and Mr. Leo an efficient stage manager. The appreciation of (ho inmates was gratefully expressed by Mr. Anstee, a nonagenarian, whoso appropriate remarks were exceedingly well expressed for one of his advanced age.
