RECENT OUTRAGE HARBOURED BY RESIDENTS COLLECTIVE FINE IMPOSED By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright (Received October 27, 5.5 p.m.) CALCUTTA, Oct. 26 A collective fine of £6OOO has been imposed by the Bengal Government on the inhabitants of the ChUtagong town of Pahartali, scene of the recent terrorist outrage, and the seven surrounding villages. This action is in consequence of the failure of the Hindu residents to give the Government information regarding the terrorists, whom they are suspected to be harbouring and assisting. • The realisation of the line has been postponed until December 1 in order to see whether the action of prominent Hindu inhabitants in forming associatiorts to aid the Government to track the terrorists will prove effective.
