GRATITUDE FOR RESCUE A THANKSGIVING SERVICE (Received October 27, 7.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct, 27 Captain Hans Bertram, the German airman who with his mechanic Adolf Klausmann was lost in the wilds of Central Australia for weeks, arrived at Sydney to-day attended by an escort of six local aeroplanes. He had spent last night at Canberra. The main object, of Captain Bertram's visit t' lo ' capital was to thank the Federal Government for the assistance rendered in rescuing him arid his companion. A thanksgiving service was held in the Canberra Anglican Church. It was attended by members of Parliament and prominent citizens. Captain Bertram continued his flight to Sydney to-day in his now famous Junkers monoplane. He. was enthusiastically welcomed by 200 people, the. German ConsulGeneral and other representative persons.
