MOTOR-CYCLISTS INJURED
MISHAPS AT SPORTS RIDERS STRIKE POSTS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] PALMERSTON NORTH. Thursday There were several spills at the Foxton motor-cycle sports yesterday. When competing in the North Island middle-weight championship, H. W. Tolley suffered severe injuries to his left hand. He struck a post when rounding a bend and fractured a finger, besides breaking two other bones in the hand. In the ]Vloutoa Handicap, D. Higgins struck a fence and was badly shaken. He suffered slight concussion and injuries to his neck and chest. While competing in the Whirokino Novice Handicap, W. Viggars hit a post with considerable force, injuring his left hand and arm.' M. E. Smith, a competitor in the United Sports Association Handicap, suffered injuries to his neck, probably due to a bumping machine, as i ho did not fall.
