Bell), D;:n Direct (A. T. Neiwdick) and First Flight (G. T. Mitchell) went away in that order from tho mile and a-hulf post, and there was no change as they reached the milo in 2.37. Passing the quarter-inilo disc there wus very little between them, but in tho ri'ii to tho post Kewpie's Triumph finished best in 3.18, Dan Direct and First Flight, close together, taking 3.49. Kewpie's Triumph finished with determination and ran the final half in 1.11. These horses were accompanied for tho middle seven by Miss Joan Direct (F. J. Smith), who worked usefully. Carnui (F. .T. Smith) led out from Pageant (11. Stafford) from the mile and a-hulf post. The pace for the first threo furlontis was vory moderate, but wus then iifcreused and Carnui led past the milo in 2.3:}. Although Pageant was handy at the turn for home, Carnui came on to finish in ; front in 3.17. Carnui was always going easily, and looks better for his. race on the first day. Pageant did not produce any dash when asked for a final ctTort. Direct Morning (W. E. Cockbill) ran approximately a milo and seven furlongs, lie strode along in easy style, and after registering 3.12 for a mile and a quarter, hit, out boldly to run the next half in 1.11. Tho Jellicoe Handicap winner was full of running at tho finish and his effort was pleasing. Moko Girl (W. T. Dye) was not fully extended to run a mile and a-hrilf in 3.55. She was allowed to take her time early, but stepped along aX a 2.30 gait over tho last circuit. "With only one engagement, tomorrow, Moko Girl should race prominently. Willetts) and Lady Coronado (J. H. Heginbolham) from tho mile and a-quartcr post, and set a sound paco for the first half in 1.14. "Worthy Cause was still in front at the B»ile in 2.23, but Nathaniel moved up at the turn, and, finishing strongly, passed the post clear of Lady Coronado, "who -came through to cut Worthy Cause out iu the last , few strides, but the last-named was not driven out. J. Smith) gave a finished display of trotting over nine furlongs. and finished by running the last six furlongs at a 2.20 gait. He was working well behind Pedlar and Rolfe Audubon. but. trotting in splendid style, he was up with them at the finish. Mazda (W. Willetts) and Hue Coronado (J. H. Heginbotham) were companions iu a mile and a-quarter task. The trotter held Mazda to the mile in 2.27, but from this point the pacer did best to finish well clear in 3.10.
