PROBATION GRANTED
MEN AND A MOTOR-CAR In view of a favourable report from the probation officer, Mr. W. J. Campbell, Arthur Purvis Smith, aged 23, seaman, and Paul Callaghan, aged 21, clerk, were admitted to probation for 12 months by Mr. E. C. Cut ten, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. The accused had pleaded guilty to converting: to their • own, use a motor-car owned by ,T. J. Niven and Company. The magistrate said the charge was serious in itself, but the action of the accused was really a drunken prank.
