EARLY HAMILTON
TOWN 36 YEARS AGO TRIBUTE TO THE PIONEERS [from our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Thursday Hamilton as it. was 36 years ago was described in ati interesting address given by Mr. A. K. Manning at the weekly meeting of the Hamilton Luncheon Club to-dav. At that time the town had a population of 1500, and was about the samo size as Cambridge, said Mr. Manning, and there was great rivalry between the two towns. Mr. Manning paid a tribnfo to many of the pioneers in public life in Hamilton, and said they were virile, energetic men who were imbued with the desire to make the town one of the best in the Dominion. Mr. Manning referred particularly to tlio work- of the late Mr. J. A. Bond, a funnel* M;i voi\ and the late Mr. A. Swarhriek, w)u»" for many years was chairman of the Hamilton Domain Board.
