TENANTS ON NATIVE LANDS SIMILARITY OF TREATMENT [dy telegraph—rnEss association] WELLINGTON, Thursday The Dominion Executive of the Farmers' Union carried a remit to-day that the Prime Minister find the Minister of Native Affairs be approached and urged that all tenants on native leasehold properties be treated in a similar manlier to lessees on European lands. It was decided to make an emphatic protest to the Native Trustee against the excessive costs of renewal of leases- recently issued in respect of lands on native reserves. The. following remits were also adopted:— That the Government be asked to reinstate the 12J, per cent rebate on county rates. That the principle of voting which applies to county councils apply also to power board elections. That in regard to reducing land valuations tho Oovernment be asked to pass legislation permitting a. percentage reduction on the last valuation of the county.
