CAULFIELD CUP RESULT ■ I ROGILLA'S GOOD VICTORY NEW ZEALANDERS UNPLACED j PETER PAN FINISHES FOURTH 1 (Received October 16, 5.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 16 After continuous rain the weather was fino for tho conclusion of tho Victoria Amateur Turf Club's Spring Meeting at Caulfield yesterday. Tho track was heavy, "there was a satisfactory attendance, including | several New Zealandors. Consistency was rewarded when Rogilla won the Caulfield Cup, for ho finished socond in both tho Epsom Handicap and the Metropolitan in Sydney recently. Ho was originally raced at Newcastle, where his jockey, G. Robinson, began his career. The South Australian horse Induna had every chanco, but was beaten three furlongs from home. Tho A.J.C. Derby winner Peter Pan was affected by tho strange surroundings, but finished well close up fourth. Segati's forward running into second place was a surprise. Top Hole ran n good race for third. The New Zealand horses, Movie Star, Peter Jackson and Lady Pam. were never dangerous. Kogilla's win was a triumph for tho owner and trainer, L. Haigh, as the horse was injured on the track at Randwick the day before the Epsom Handicap. Waltzing Lily scored a runaway win in tho Burwood Handicap. Her rider. J. Daniels, won tho event previously on Lonicera. Blue Shot led all the way in tho Mona Nursery. She is a full sister to Bondclte, who won tho fillies' division of the Maribrynong Trial last year. Tho New Zealand filly Tessic was fifth. A. R. Knox, rider of tho winner, was censured for crossing sharply after the start. Nellie's Tip finished fast to win narrowly from the New Zealand colt Easy Money in tho Gwyn Nursery. He is owned apd trained by W. Tindall, who also won recently with Maiden Hair. Tho Buck, ridden by tho Now Zealand horseman, I. Tucker, led for the last seven furlong 3 of tho Wy una Steeplechase and won brilliantly. Parkwood, ridden by tho former New Zealand horseman, Ashley Reed, won tho Windsor Handicap nicely. Ho is partial to tt wet track. He is trained by tho veteran JL'\ Musgravo. After passing the seven furlongs Rogilla made a fast run that carried him into third place behind Johnnie Jason and Induna at the half-mile. Peter Pan was still a long way back. Rogilla ran to the front at the turn and won by three lengths from Segati, with Top Hole three and a-half lengths away third. Peter Pan was a close fourth, and then came Kuach, Knight's Favour, Prince Dayton, Dermid, Movie Star, Induna and Peter Jackson, with Johnnie Jason and K. Cid last'. Time. 2m 3 lis.
