SNOOKER TOURNAMENT
Another fine exhibition of snooker was staged at the Central Billiards Rooms, High Street, last evening, when G. Cornish defeated E. L. Sommervillo by two games to one in the championship snooker tournament. Both players delighted the audience •with clean potting, the final scores being:— Cornish, 81—47—<55; Sommerville, 35—69—57. S. Seaton b6at H. Price, the scores being respectively 35—51 —05 and 66- —36—39. The result caused some surprise but Ptice. one of (ho scratch men, was much below form. The match between L. Burke and T. Goulding was the closest to date, the first game being black to win, Burke potting it. The last game was black to tie and tho ball had to be re-spotted to decide the winner. Burke was again fortunate, the game giving him tho match. The scores were:— Burke, 75—70; Gonldiiig. 02 —63. The following matches will bo played this evening:— T. Mimdy v. A. Ferguson, M. Ellis v. H. Guy, P. Smith v. J, Poole,
