BIG BRITISH TRANSACTION RECORD LOW INTEREST RATE (Received September 25, 11.5 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 24
The British Government yesterday sold £48,000,000 worth of three-month Treasury bills at a rate of interest of £4 per cent per annum, compared with £5 12s 6d per cent a year ago. This is the lowest rate ever recorded.
Cheap borrowings already have saved the Government £11,000,000 in the present financial year. BRITISH INVESTORS PROTECTIVE COMBINE INFLUENTIAL COMMITTEE LONDON, Sept. 23
The Daily Express says plans are practically completed for the formation of a giganti'c combine of British trust companies. The main objects are to protect investors' interests and fight any attempts to interfere with the rights of security holders.
Nearly 200 companies, holding securities totalling more than £300,000,000 are concerned. The provisional committee includes some of the most influential financiers in the country.
