When Islghtmarch won the Melbourne Cup in 1929 he carried 9.2 and when ho ran unplaced in the Auckland Cup in 1930 ho carried 9.13. In a recent letter received by Mr. P. F. Campbell, of Christchurch, the trainer C. Davey stated that Compris lauded in Sydney in the best of health, after a good trip. He was leaving at once for Melbourne, wliero ho was due last Monday. In tho event of Nightmarch not being a starter in the Melbourne Cup, Roy Reed will ride Compris in that race. Mr. Campbell intends to leave in a fortnight in order to bo present at the Melbourne Cup meeting.
