NOTES ON THE FORM

TELLER AGAIN SUCCESSFUL ORAPAI'S SPRINT VICTORY SPRING HACK TO BAMBURY BY ARCHER . After his promising: efTort at Marton and his good display in the Two-year-old Parade on Thursday, Midian was sent out favourite over Pegged Exchange and Golden Hair for the Debuntant Stakes and ho acted up to expectations by winning nicely. Midian was first to begin from Spiral and Golden Hair, and was soon joined by Bon Rapide, tho pair leading into tho straight from Hugo, Dinelli and Pegged Exchange. Midian did best in the run homo and won by three-parts of a length from Bon Rapide, who beat Dinelli by two lengths. Quietly was fourth, succeeded by Hugo, Pegged Exchange, Red Manfred and Raparahara. Tho winner was favoured by drawing No. 1 at tho barrier and onco ho jumped out in v front never looked liko being beaten. Bon Rapido was at a good prico for second and she may have mado it a little more difficult for the winner if she had not hung out at the turn. Dinelli Went a good race after being drawn on the extreme outside. High Commissioner Unplaced As a result of his easy win on tho first day. High Commissioner was installed a strong favourite over Henry of Navarre for the Gonvillo High-weight Handicap, but ho was beaten into fourth* position. Bon Eve reached the front quickly and was joined at tlio seven furlongs by Warfillo. Then Henry of Navarre began to movo up and he ran to the lead at the half-mile, where High Commissioner went up third and Bon Eve dropped back. Henry of Navarro just led High Commissioner at tho turn, with Y/arfille, Tenacre and Autumn Dawn next. Once th 9 pressure was applied, Tenacre came strongly on the outside to score by a length from Henry of Navarre, who was two _ lengths ahead of Fernden. High Commissioner was foiirth, followed by Warfille, Autumn Dawn and Day Lass. Tenacro was patiently handled and ho finished too well for Henry of Navarre, who was ridden differently compared with the first day. Fernden and" High Commissioner ran creditable races, although High Commissioner failed to show tho form expected. An End-to-end Win

Chief Marionette and Bambury were most in demand for the Spring Hack Handicap and Bambury, on whom K. Voitre had the mount, beat the others for early speed, and won all the way. Senorita lost some lengths at the start and Bambury was quickly in front from Dick Whittington and Chief Marionette. Bambury was clear entering the straight, but he was all out ! &t the finish to win by a length from Dick Whittington. Chief Marionette was two lengths away third and Late Jest was fourth. Nest to finish were Illuminelli, Posy, Merry Way and Senorita.

Bambury outpaced the field early and be had sufficent in reserve to stall off Dick Whittington's challenge at the finish. Chief Marionette appeared likely at the turn, but failed to finish with any dash. The four runners in the Belmont Handicap all received fairly good support and Fiji was the actual favourite. The start was very uneven, Korokio and Habit being out of line, with the result that Fiji and Pomp jumped out clear. They raced in pairs to the straight and at the turn Fiji and Pomp were about a length clear of Korokio and Habit. As they straightened up, Fiji and Poirip moved outwards from the rails and Korokio immediately challenged on the inside. Korokio stayed on solidly under pressure to wrest the honours from Fiji by a neck. Pomp was two lengths away third and Habit was close up fourth.

Korokio was fortunate to get through on the rails, but she did well after losing at least a couplo of lengths at the start. Fiji ran another good race and his turn should come soon. Hot Favourite Scores Glenvane, at odds-on, and Gay Court were the favourites for the Trial Handicap, and they filled the dividend-places after having the finish to themselves. Capo Fair whipped round at the start and Ythan also lost some ground. Boon and Swift and Suro then became prominent and Hawora ran up quickly. Glenvnne went through on the rails at the half-mile and led into the straight from Gay Court. Taitoru and Hawora. As soon as they straightened up. Gay Court., ran to Glenvane and looked as if he had him henten, but tho three-year-old' responded in great style, and won by a head. Taitoru was two lengths away third and Cape Fair was fourth. Swift and Sure, Royal Papa and Hawora were next. This was Glenvane's third successive win and. although ho just got home, he will do much better in the hands of a stronger horseman. Gay Court ran one of liis best races and Cape Fair did surprisingly well to get fourth after losing so much ground at the start. Swift and Suro missed a place, but should bo well worth watching. Higgio Handicap Contest Teller, who was a good second fancy to Orby's Choice, repeated his first day s success by scoring decisively from Ruanui in the Higgio Handicap. Once the field had settled down. Easier Titno and Statuary were racing together in the lead, with Orby's Choice and Teller abreast next, and then Little. Doubt. The four leading positions were unchanged as tho field entered the straight, when Teller shot up on the outside of the leaders, and Orby's choice was disappointed ill looking for an opening. Teller then drew away, and ho won by a length and a-lialf from Ruanui, who was (wo lengths ahead of Orby's Choice. Easier Time was fourth, succeeded by Statuary and Vitaphone. Teller is very fit and he was splendidly ridden by Voitre. -Ruanui was kept in behind in tho early stages and finished on well without having a chance with tho winner. Orby's Choice made a creditable showing and may have been second only for being checked at the turn. Defeat of Farmer

Farmer was a hot favourite for the Moutoa Hack Handicap, but ho missed a place, and it was left to Ben 'Hur and Glowlight to fill the dividend-places. Glowlight being the outsider of the field and returning doublefigures for second. Farmer led early from Glowlight. Invictus and Ben Hur and so they raced to the half-mile post, where Ben Hur ran up second. Farmer and Ben Hur were together in front entering the straight, with Glowlight and Invictus handy. Ben Hur stayed on solidly under pressure and scored by a n>?ck from (rJowlight. Invictus was two ancl a-half lengths away third and Farmer was fourth. The next to cross the line were Miss Shef, Tangiroa and Seamond. Farmer ba<l every cbnnce, but failed to go on at the finish. Ben Hur displayed marked improvement upon his first days running. Kotaki lika failed to run up to form, but Glowlight shaped very creditably, and just failed to reach the winner. Orapai's Decisive Win,

The Owen Handicap was the best betting race of the meeting, with most support for Consent, La Modcrne and Orapai. Consent was first to begin from Refresher and they were, tho early leaders from Orapai, Ganpat and La Modernc. With two furlongs coverec], Ganpat made a sharp run to the leaders and showed out-in front on the outside at the top. There was little between Ganpat and Refresher entering the straight, with Orapai and Consent together just in behind, an<l La Moderne also handy. Onco into tho straight, Orapai cam<> through between the leaders to win by three-parts of a length from La Modcrne, who finished strongly on the outside. Refresher was halt a length away third, with Ganpat, Equitant and Consent in a bunch next Orapai was more patiently ridden -nan on the first day and scored decisively.. He was piloted by B. H. Morris, who also won the sprint on Thursday on View Halloo La Moderne ran another good race and should do better on bigger courses. Ganpat was made too much use of in the first few fuilonss and tired at the end.
