ANNUAL. MEETINGS HELD

FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION

PUKEKOHE, Sunday

Regret that the coaching scheme for younger. players had not beon better supported was expressed at the annual meeting of tho Franklin Lawn Tennis Association. Tho balance-sheet disclosed a profit of £6 14s 9d on tho year's working. The following officers wore elected:—-Pat-ron, Mr. A. Parke Horno; president, Mr. K. Glasgow; vice-presidents. Dr. L. J. Forman Bull, Messrs. S. C. Shaw and A. A. Boyd; secretary and treasurer, Mr.. W. C. Morrin; emergency committee. Messrs R. Fulton, A, Fausett and W. Bilkey: delegates, Messrs. A. I\. Turner, A. C. Johns and K. Bordman; auditor, Mr. W. Richards; selectors, Messrs. J. C. Charters, Morrin and Glasgow.

It was decided to ask tho Auckland Association to send players to coach school children.

An application front the Pukekoho Tennis Club to hold an Easter tournament and to include the Franklin championships was granted. It was agreed that champion of champions, champion of champions doubles and school championship tournaments should be conducted. Attempts will be mado to arrange matches with the Hauraki Plains or other adjacent associations.

A meeting to arrange a draw and interclub matches for tho coming season was fired for Octijber 28.

TUAKAU, Saturday

In spite of a very wet day, the Tuakau Lawn Tennis Club officially opened it 3 season this afternoon, the president, Mr. Garnet Arrowsmith, formally declaring thtf courts open. Tho weather conditions mado play impossible.

MORRINSVILLE CLUB 1 [FROM OCR OWN correspondent]

MORRINSVTLLE. Saturday

Tho report presented at the annual meeting of tho Morrinsville Lawn Tennis Club showed a loss of £4 -13 lid on the year's working, but the club hud reduced its bank overdraft by £25. The assets were shown by the balance-sheet at £lll and liabilities £l6l 17s 7d. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. W. C. Cargill; vice-president, Mr. C. T. Gould; secretary, Mr. G. S. Thorpe; committee, Mrs. Milburn, Misses N. Ryan and J. Watson, Messrs. N. Brya.nt, C. Colson, A. Philpott; auditor. Mr. J. N. Brown; club captains, Miss M. Clark and Mr. N. Chapman; selectors, Mr. N. Chapman and Miss M. Clark. It was decided to hold tho opening day next Saturday.

MAIRTOWN CLUB'S OPENING

The official opening of the Mairtown Lawn Tennis Club was held this afternoon in overcast weather, following steady rain in the morning. Conditions, however, were good for tennis and the asphalt courts were quite good for play. Tho president, Mr. L. A. Johnson, in his address, mentioned that tho club was calling tenders for the resvuVicing of its five courts at a cost of about ±'Bo.

M:r. Johnson presented the silver cups won during the season as follows:—Men's singles championship, Mr. T. Colthart: ladies' singles championship, Mrs. F. Courtney; combined doubles handicap, Miss M. Tucker and Mr. D. Jones.

A progressive tournament played during the afternoon was won by Miss D. Carter and Mr. B. Parkin.

DARGAVILLE CLUB'S OFFICERS The report and balance Eheet presented at the annual meeting of tho Dargavillo Lawn Tennis Club showed the club had experienced a successful past year. The following officers were elected: — Patron, Rt. Hon. .T. G. Coates; president. Mr. B. S. Angus; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. M. Munn, J. D. Hosking; captain, Mr. E. H, St odd art; secretary and treasurer. Miss E. Lawes; auditor, Mr. E. M. Munn; delegate to Northern Wairoa Tennis Association, Mr. B. S. Angus; delegates to North Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs. E. H Stoddart, M. C. Astley; selector, Mr. T. Gould: committee. Mrs. E. J. Brock, Misses M Milne, M. C. Edmed. Messrs. E. J. Brock, T. Gould, N. F. Moorhcad.

Mrs. Angus presented to the successful members the prizes won last season. Mrs. S. Harding and Gould again winning the club .championships. The official opening of the club is to take place on Saturday, October S. BIRKENHEAD WELCOME CLUB The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Welcome Tennis Club, Birkenhead:—Captain, Miss J. Hollis; vicecaptain. Mr. C. Utting; secretary, Mr. R. McGregor; treasurer. Mr. A. Thompson; committee, Misses R. Taylor and M. Edwards, F. Utting. It was decided to open the season on October 15.
