OBITUARY
DEATH OF LADY BRETT LIFE OF SERVICE ENDS The death occurred at her hoflve ia Epsom Avenue on Saturday of Lady Brett, widow of the late Sir Honry Brett, in her 95th year. Lady Brett, who would have been 95 years old next Sunday, was'; possessed of a wonderful vitality until well advanced in years, and on Friday afternoon she went out driving and paying calls, She passed away in her sleep the next morning. Lady Brett. wa3 the eldest of eight children, being a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Moon, of Westfield, Sussex. She arrived in Auckland from England in November 1864, and on November 22 was married to Mr. Henry, (afterwards Sir Henry) Brett. Hi© ceremony took place in St. Paul's, Church, being conducted by the Rev. J. F. Lloyd.
For the greater portion of her life in Auckland Lady Brett lived at Takapuna, but after the death of Sir Henry Brett, in January, 1927, sho made her home at. Epsom. For a great many years she was an active and devoted member of St. Peter's' Church, Takapuna, and worked indefatigably for the Ladies' Guild, which raised substantial sums on behalf of the church.' She was also the donor of two stained glass windows, the church organ being presented by Sir H®fcry..
Many a worthy cause has reason to bo grateful for Lady- Brett's benefactions, and she took a particular pleasure in, forwarding the interests of the Church and other good works in the community. The altar in the chapel of . the Missions to Seamen, whose new building was re- c " cently opened, was Lady Brett's gift. Lady Brett is survived by two sons and two daughters, Messrs. Arthur and Alfred Brett and Mesdames W. J. Rainger and Walcott Wood. There are 21-grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. The funeral . will take place at O'Neill's Point Ceme- . tery this afternoon. MRS. E. WILKINSON A [from our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, . Sunday The death occurred at her residence. Aubrey Street, Whangarei, yesterday of Mrs. Eva Wilkinson, wife of Mr. Arthur I. B. Wilkinson, after a long illness. Mrs. Wilkinson was born in London and after receiving training as a nurse, came to New Zealand, settling in Whangarei, where she opened a private hospital. She was married in 1907. Mrs. Wilkinson took a keen interest in musical and literary affairs,.and was actively associated with the Cnurch of England." At one time she was "a member of the Whangarei School Committee. Mrs. Wilkinson-is- survived by her hus--. band, two sons and one daughter.
