TRIBUTE TO JOURNALIST
SERVICES ACKNOWLEDGED ; [BY TELEGRAI>H—PRESET ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON'. Sunday The completion by Mr. .C. W. Earle, i C.M.G., as chief executive officer of the Dominion newspaper, of 25 years as editor-in-chief and 20 years as managing director, was- marked on Sateurday even- 1 : ing by a dinner given in hi 3 honour atl the Grand Hotel by the literary staff 1 and other branches of the newspaper. Striking tributes were paid to Mr.. Earle's work over a quarter of a century and in acknowledging the -vital part he played in the development of th© paper members of the staff attributed to him the chief credit for building, from its foundations, an organisation which bad taken an outstanding part in the progress of the Wellington province and Bad : exerted a real influence on the course of" New Zealand affairs.
