IDENTITY OF SKELETON
A BAFFLING MYSTERY COUPLE'S DISAPPEARANCE FALSE TEETH CLUE FAILS [by telegraph—own correspondent] new PLYMOUTH, Friday In spite of< tho utmost police activity no solution of the Kohuraiahi mystery has been found, and conclusive proof that the human remains found on September 17 by two pig-hunters are those of Donald Morrison is still lacking. It has been established, however, that the rifle found alongside tho skeleton was one used by Morrison.
A neighbour of the missing man who had used the rifle has inspected it and is positive that the weapon belonged to Morrison.
As soon as Ibe Stratford police received tho false teeth found with the remains inquiries were instituted among Stratford dentists, but none was able to state that he had made the set or had done repairs which had been made to the dental plate. " While tho police are concentrating on establishing the identity of the skeleton they are also concerned with the fate of Mrs. Morrison. When tho husband disappeared in February, 1931, after his house had been destroyed by fire and some 20 head of stock had been found shot, extensive inquiries were made for both Morrison and his wife among relatives without any clue being obtained as to their whereabouts. Eight or nine days before the fire Mrs. ilorrison was seen riding from the homestead toward the open country at Kohuratahi. There is no evidence that she' ever returned to the itirm. Two days before tho fire she was believed to be at Whangamomona, but positive proof of this is not yet forthcoming. Constable J. Colbourne, of Whangamomona, and a party of settlers have searched the vicinity in an endeavour to find a clue that might throw some light on the disappearance of Mrs. Morrison, and investigations are still being made -by the police. Adjoining Morrison's homestead are 70,000 acres of virgin bush, and "tho naturo of tho country generally makes the search one of great difficulty. It seems obvious that the remains are those of Morrison, but identity is not yet settled and the fate of Mrs. Morrison is only a matter of conjecture.
