HOURS OF LABOUR
PROPOSED REDUCTION ITALIAN PLAN CONSIDERED GENEVA, Sept. 22 .The governing body of the International Labour Office decided to-day by 16 votes to 7 to adopt the Italian Government's proposal to place on the agenda for the next,session of tho conference the question of a. universal 40-hour week with the object of absorbing unemployed. It was also resolved to hold a preparatory conference at Geneva in January to consider the technical problems involved and to communicate the conclusions reached to the governing body which will forward them to tho World Economic Conference.
Representatives of the British Government and employers voted \yith the minority, the former opposing the suggested procedure, and tho latter contending that there was no evidence that the proposed reduction of working hourq would diminish unemployment,
